Places to Visit within 15 miles of Hamilton Backpackers
(1) Fishguard - Your base with 2 supermarkets, banks, tourist information, galleries, restaurants and of course pubs. Adventure days, activities, cruises and the ferry to Ireland all leave from here.
Great views and walks e.g. the beach at Goodwick, Lower Fishguard where under Milkwood was filmed, the (10) Coastal walk East spectacular cliff scenary and lighthouse and seals at Strumble head. (bus there or back)





1 ST DAVID's AREA Take bus 412 to (2) St. David's - Britains smallest city, see the cathedral and ruins of the Bishops palace, galleries. Walk along the coast passing St Non's Chapel. You can take a boat trip across to (7) Ramsey Island a bird watching paradise. A local bus goes to (8) Whitesands beach a good surfing beach. Some of the best walking is up the coast from here with good views and burial chambers.
On the way there or back you can take the strumble shuttle to see some of the spectacular coastal scenary and maybe walk a section of the coast path e.g. (9) Abereidy to Porthgain . If you have time you might want to go through Solva and onto (13) Wingale a 2 mile long beach. Also you can see the lighthouse and seals at Strumble head.

2 NEWPORT AREA All these place are near to the 411 bus route. Best to go first out to (5) Castell Hentlys where archaeologists will guide you around the reconstructed Iron Age village. A 2 mile walk to (4) Tycanol woods (special mosses and hidden caves). walk/drive on to (4) Pentre Ifan Wales largest prehistoric Dolmen. You can go direct to Newport or stop off at (18) Nevern Historic church with it's bleeding Yew Tree and ancient Celtic cross. (3) Newport - Historic seatown and beach, prehistoric burial chamber lots of walking including the mile long beach, or upto Cairn Ingli for spectacular views or coastal walk to (11) Dinas Head and then round it. Seals are sometimes seen in front of the pub there. Then a bus back to Fishguard

3 GWAUN VALLEY and PRESELI HILLS Drive or Cycle in the beautiful (6) Gwaun Valley - Oakwoods and historic and atmospheric Bessies pub. Through to the Preseli Hills, spectacular views from Pembrokeshires highest point and a walk along a (12)Bronze Age Road with ancient burial sites and stone circles. On the south side in Rosebush another historic pub Tafern Zinc and a large stone circle at Gawrs Fawr. Down on the North side are (4) Tycanol woods (special mosses and hidden caves). walk/drive on to (4) Pentre Ifan Wales largest prehistoric Dolmen.
You can combine tour 3 and 2 into one long loop

Pembroke Castle
4 CARDIGAN AREA Take the 411 bus to (15) Cardigan - Historic castle town. You can go onto (16) Poppit Sands a long dune beach from where dolphins regularly sighted. Kids will love the (14) Cilgerran Castle and nearby Animal Park. Possibly onto the Steam railway at Cenarth
